Health & Wellness

We support under-resourced residents of all ages in Herculaneum and across Jefferson County through hands-on activities and discussions focused on:

  • Physical and mental health

  • Indoor and outdoor education

  • Leadership development

Our health and wellness center uses a holistic approach to promote healthy lifestyles. Programs address:

  • Terminal illnesses

  • Stress and trauma

  • Domestic violence

  • Alternative behavioral health methods

Gardening & Nutrition

Thanks to Buren Chapel AME Church, BDNC offers educational gardening initiatives and resources focused on mental and physical health awareness.

Additionally, through partnerships with MU Extension and Lincoln University Extension we offer:

  • Daily access to educational gardening

  • Fresh vegetables

  • Nutrition classes

  • Support groups for Cancer and Lupus

  • Activities like walking groups and exercise sessions that highlight the health benefits of gardening and nutritious foods
